Our handmade ceramics are crafted with love and care, and they deserve the same attention in your home. Here’s how to keep your porcelain, stoneware, and earthenware looking beautiful for years to come.

General guidelines for
all ceramics.

Handwashing Preferred: While many ceramics are dishwasher safe, handwashing with mild soap and warm water is recommended to maintain their finish and longevity. Avoid abrasive scrubbing pads.
Avoid Thermal Shock: Sudden temperature changes can cause cracks or weaken the material. Let hot dishes cool before rinsing with cold water.

Porcelain.

Porcelain is durable, non-porous, and often resistant to wear, making it a versatile choice for everyday use.

Dishwasher Safe: Our handmade porcelain pieces are dishwasher safe. However, to prevent chipping or damage, use the top rack and avoid overloading.
Microwave Safe: Porcelain is microwave safe unless it has metallic decorations or glazes. Always check for specific product notes.
Stain Removal: To remove stubborn stains or discoloration, soak in a mixture of warm water and baking soda, then gently scrub with a soft sponge.

Stoneware.

Stoneware is robust and slightly heavier, with a rich texture and glaze options that add character to your tableware.

Dishwasher Use: Stoneware can handle the dishwasher but is best washed by hand to protect the glaze.
Microwave Safety: Our stoneware items are microwave safe, but some glazes may crack or craze under intense heat. Use lower power settings and avoid microwaving empty dishes.
Oven Use: If specified as oven-safe, stoneware items should be placed in a cold oven to warm up gradually, avoiding direct exposure to broilers or stovetops.

Earthenware.

Earthenware is delicate and porous, with a rustic charm that requires a bit more care.

Dishwashing: Always handwash earthenware. Dishwasher cycles and detergents can damage its porous surface and glaze.
Microwave Use: Avoid microwaving earthenware unless explicitly noted as microwave safe, as its porous nature can absorb water and lead to cracking.
Water Absorption: Prolonged exposure to water can weaken earthenware. Dry thoroughly after washing and avoid soaking for long periods.

Additonal tips

Storage: Store your ceramics in a dry, stable environment. Avoid stacking too many pieces to prevent accidental chips or breaks.
Seasonal Use: If you plan to use ceramics outdoors, ensure they’re not exposed to freezing temperatures, which can cause cracks.
Glaze Crazing: Fine cracks in the glaze (crazing) are a natural feature in handmade ceramics over time. While they don’t impact functionality, avoid soaking crazed pieces to prevent staining.
